It turns out that my problem was very hardware specific. If you have a
Micron Millenium take a look at

Apparently there's a problem with the BIOS, so you either have to disable
plug and play OS, or make sure that your card is in slot 4. I haven't

The first thing that you need to do is get the new driver at:

Copy the new 3c59x.c file over the old one (in /usr/src/linux/drivers/net)

Yes. In fact, this is the recomended way to do it, as it keep traffic
between your two machines physically seperate from the internet. You just
have to add a route to your local network on the second ethernet card.

I had the same problem. But the solution is in the PPP-HOWTO file available

As for IP Masq, well, there are a lot of reasons why it may not be working.
Have you read the HOWTO files? If not, you absolutely must go to
http://www.linux.org and follow the link. Download all the HOWTOs into a
directory on your linux box. I find the solutions to most problems by just

You might also look into running smap (part of the Firewall Toolkit
from TIS - http://www.tis.com). To only thing it does is
collects SMTP mail and puts it in a temp directory. A daemon then
collects the mail and sends it on it's way.
